World Language

Our program introduces students to Spanish with a focus on Speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students have the opportunity to learn about the language and culture.

Our mission is to inspire and educate our students to become proficient in Spanish, be lifelong learners, and become knowledgeable about other cultures. Students develop fluency and communication skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

Our world language program helps students learn a new language through engaging lessons, singing, dancing, games, reading and listening comprehension activities, speaking and writing activities, along with multimedia presentations and activities. The ultimate goal of the curriculum is to facilitate the growth of the students' communication level in Spanish.

Our focus will be the 5 C’s of World Language instruction:

Communication: Students will communicate with peers and the teacher in the target language.

Culture: they will learn about other cultures and traditions around the world.

Connections: making connections through lessons and language activities to what is being taught in their homeroom.

Comparisons:  make comparisons in cultural traditions and language variances from countries around the world

Community:  Students will use the language within and beyond the classroom as they become lifelong learners.

Each unit introduces a new country, new vocabulary themes and grammar concepts, reading and listening comprehension activities, speaking and writing activities, multimedia presentations, and activities. There is a strong emphasis on correct pronunciation, providing context and conversational examples for the language concepts presented in each unit.
